Part of what makes decision-making complicated in many organizations is the structure of the organization itself and the various roles people play in decision making. To help you manage this, DecisionsFirst Modeler allows you to model a simple organizational structure and then map that structure to the decisions and objectives you are modeling. For BigCo we are going to build a simple organization structure using the following table.
To create an organization, use the Organization button on the Create menu.

Tip: Most of the organizations you create with be divisions or departments. At the lower levels, however, you will likely find it useful to identify the various roles within a department.
Once you have all nine created we are going to build the organization hierarchy. Return to the home page and run an empty search and filter the results on "Organization."
In each Organization, jump to the Organization Structure section where you will see a drop down list labeled Parent. Use this to select “Support” as the parent for these three roles. Close each role once you have associated it with its parent. Now repeat this to link Development, Support, Marketing, Sales and Shipping to their parent – BigCo.
It is also worth knowing where different metrics and objectives apply. Open BigCo itself and search for the business objective “Customer Retention.” Associate BigCo with this objective. Open the Support department and do the same for the metric “Improve customer Profitability.”
